Suggested sailing Routes - Golf of Gokova, East of Bodrum
Day 1: Embark at Port Bodrum Marina, settled deep in the bay of Yalikavak on the West coast of the Bodrum peninsula. Aura Yachting staff will be waiting to welcome you and do the check-in. Later you can go shopping at the well-stocked "mini-Migros" opposite the pontoons or you can go (by taxi) to the larger "Migros" out-of-town store.
Day 2: Mazı, 20 miles East of Bodrum. A real gem set in an idyllic position. The bay is often void of other yachts, with sometimes a Gulet moored close by. Shelter from the regular winds can be found on the west side of the open bay, near the reefs off the headland. Take a line ashore and a dinghy to the small jetty. The restaurant, run by the young, friendly Onder is set right above the jetty and holds stunning views across the gulf to the south. Food choice might seem sparce but the quality, quantity and price make up for it. Breakfast here is also a treat. Önder is always ready to help out.
Day 3: Degirmen Buku - ' English Harbour '. Approx 28 miles cross-downwind. A popular venue with plenty of sheltered coves to accommodate yachts and gullets. You can moor to the wooden jetty of the 'Kaptan's Place' Restaurant. Good water & electricity. No mooring fee and good food at the restaurant over-looking the water's adge. There is also a little mini-market adjoining the restaurant.
Day 4: Cleopatra Island (Sehir Adasi) for a lunch stop. Visit the beach that Cleopatra's lover Anthony made for her. Then on to Akbuk, a beautiful bay surrounded by high mountains where you can moor to the jetty of the Altas restaurant. This is commonly void of other yachts.
"Exploring Sehir Adasi was amazing! The ruins from the open air theatre and the scener was breath-taking. You get the impression that you are the only people walking around as there are lots to see and take in. Definitely worth a visit."
Day 5: Cokertme. 20 miles up-wind with a stop for a breather in Tuzla Koyu or anchored off Oren. Eat at either the lively Kaptan Ibrahim's restaurant or the pirate-themed Rose Mary restaurant. Moor on the chosen restaurant's jetty with fixed bow-lines or anchor in the west bay where a small boat will rush to greet you, help with mooring lines and offer to pick you up to take you to their restaurant at your chosen time. Each restaurant has it's benefits and provide provisions to yachts.
Day 6: Ortakent. A few miles west of Bodrum, nestled into the corner of a wide bay. 'Dalga' is a popular and relaxed beach bar which also serves a selection of dishes, whilst the next-door restaurant provides good food with tables in the sand on the waters edge. Alternatively, walk a couple of minutes along the beach to a reputable fish restaurant that has an overwhelming choice of gourmet food.
Day 7: Back around the peninsula to Port Bodrum, 15 miles up-wind. Please remember to fill up with diesel. When you enter the harbour call the Marina on channel 73 to help you with the mooring lines at the Aura pontoon. Spend the evening in the lovely village of Yalikavak , where you'll be spoilt for choice for food and entertainment in really great surroundings.
